To support our efforts within the European Market, Edmund Optics in Mainz is looking for a

Compliance Manager (f/m/d)

This highly skilled position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Technical liaison between Compliance, Product Line Managers, as well as US and European Sales
  • Classify products according to applicable European export regulations and ensure compliance throughout the process, from feasibility to order and delivery
  • Determine US Export Commodity Classification Numbers for new catalog products, in support of the global Compliance team
  • Classifying locally sourced products with regards to applicable European export regulations
  • Reviewing custom quotes/orders to ensure that the proper classification is assigned
  • Evaluating products to help in determining environmental product compliance
  • Interpreting various local and global regulatory rules and/or rule changes to ensure that they are communicated through corporate policies and procedures
  • Representing Regulatory Affairs in cross-functional project teams or activities
  • Maintaining and expanding current knowledge base of existing and emerging export regulations, standards, or guidance documents
  • Revising and / or creating export compliance related procedures, manuals, training materials, and / or work instructions as necessary
  • Identifying and coordinating the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others
  • Maintaining and extending contacts to European export authorities and consultants
  • Owning and continuously improving European export compliance processes
     

Your profile:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years related prior work experience
  • Understanding of high-tech products and industries, e.g. semiconductor, electronics, telecoms etc., ideally in optics
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, experience in customs regulations is a plus
  • Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to work independently and in a discretionary manner
  • Excellent organization, analytical, implementation, communication and presentation skills
  • Business fluent in German and English
