To support our efforts within the European Market, Edmund Optics in Mainz is looking for a
Compliance Manager (f/m/d)
This highly skilled position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Technical liaison between Compliance, Product Line Managers, as well as US and European Sales
- Classify products according to applicable European export regulations and ensure compliance throughout the process, from feasibility to order and delivery
- Determine US Export Commodity Classification Numbers for new catalog products, in support of the global Compliance team
- Classifying locally sourced products with regards to applicable European export regulations
- Reviewing custom quotes/orders to ensure that the proper classification is assigned
- Evaluating products to help in determining environmental product compliance
- Interpreting various local and global regulatory rules and/or rule changes to ensure that they are communicated through corporate policies and procedures
- Representing Regulatory Affairs in cross-functional project teams or activities
- Maintaining and expanding current knowledge base of existing and emerging export regulations, standards, or guidance documents
- Revising and / or creating export compliance related procedures, manuals, training materials, and / or work instructions as necessary
- Identifying and coordinating the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others
- Maintaining and extending contacts to European export authorities and consultants
- Owning and continuously improving European export compliance processes
Your profile:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years related prior work experience
- Understanding of high-tech products and industries, e.g. semiconductor, electronics, telecoms etc., ideally in optics
- Knowledge of import/export regulations, experience in customs regulations is a plus
- Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Power Point
- Ability to work independently and in a discretionary manner
- Excellent organization, analytical, implementation, communication and presentation skills
- Business fluent in German and English
